Soil type: Prefers a rich loam but tolerates poor soils. Plants; pH 4.5 to 8.2

Flowers are hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs)

Pollination: Bees; Wind

Plant is self fertile

Seed preservation: 4 years

 

Edible Parts: fruits

Medicine: Diuretic;  Vermifuge.

The leaf juice has been used in the treatment of worms and bowel complaints. The plant is diuretic

Known Hazards: All parts of the plant, except the fruit, are poisonous. Immature plants are also toxic.
